Make a difference and save water at home with DIY Superstore.

Learning how to use and save water efficiently can drastically decrease the amount of water you use and if that isn't enough, it can also help you save a buck or two.

Here are a few things you can do to start saving water:

1. Water Patrol

The first thing to do at home is to take a stroll in and around your home to spot any dripping taps or suspicious wet areas on the ground or in the lawn.

If you don't see any problems in and around your home then have a look at your water bill for any abnormality. Noticing a drastic climb in your bill should be enough to prove that you might have a hidden problem.

2. Dripping Deadly

Don't let a small dripping tap fool you because a couple of drops could set you back a long way.
For example, a single tap that drips 10 times a minute equals up to 3 liters wasted each day, that's over a 1000 litres each year!

3. Top-Up to Limit Flushing

Flushing our toilets is one of the worst ways to waste good clean water, but we can all learn how to use it effectively.

Luckily there are many ways we can use our unwanted leftover wastewater to top-up our toilets:
- Place a dedicated bucket in the shower to capture greywater.
- Gather leftover sink and dishwater.
- Capture Greywater from the washing machine, dishwasher, and other appliances outlets.

4. Water Storage Solution

Water tanks have become a really popular way to save and store fresh clean water whether for domestic, agricultural, industrial or commercial applications.

These tanks come in a variety of colours, shapes, and sizes to fit into any household and are UV protective and anti-corrosive (it can also capture rainwater).

5. It's Up to You

The best way to save water is to start with yourself. It is up to you to make a choice and with constant practice, it'll become a healthy habit.

Simple habits like shutting the tap while brushing your teeth, flushing the toilet when necessary, limiting your shower time and using the express washing cycle of your washing machine is a small step towards a better future.

You can make a difference and save water.
